OpenERP is released in two different flavors:
The stable version is usually released monthly (currently from the 5.0 code branch). These monthly releases encompass only bug fixes and security updates, and should not require any migration operation.
A major release of the stable version is normally published once or twice a year, from the development branch.
The development version (currently from the 5.2trunk code branch) is available via OpenERP's source code repository, and changes daily as development progresses towards the next major release.
This version is not meant for production use, but we provide alpha/beta versions for early adopters and testers on this page.
Currently, there is no official [native] version of OpenERP for Mac systems.
However, you may want to have a look at the Taktik Development Team blog, for a Mac version of the OpenERP Desktop client, as well as step-by-step instructions on installing the OpenERP Server on a Mac. Taktik is an official OpenERP partner in Belgium.
