Hi :D

In usual gantt planners, it is possible to define dependencies between tasks.
Image

Thus, it is possible to define that :

 task 1 will last for 20 days starting tomorrow,
 task 2 will last for 4 days and won't start before task 1 is over,
    etc.

Then the planner is able to process it and :

 render all starting/ending task dates,
 show what impact could have a delay in task 1 or 2 for instance.

I did not find out how to do this, is it even possible in OpenERP ?

There had been some patch (from chircar.at, I remember), long ago.

Some important work that needs to be done is to make sure the task planner algoritm works right (it is non-trivial). See this forum for previous discussions on the matter.

Perhaps we could make it in time and integrate this in 5.2.

Hi,

though I'm totally unable to do this, I think it's possible to learn from opensource projets/software like Planner or Apache Ofbiz that already are able to perform such tasks.

PS : I didn't find the patch.

EDIT : where files should I check to see how difficult modifying the code could be ? I'm running Ubuntu 9.10

Hi, after some other discussions it seems it is indeed scheduled for 5.2, by merging "Faces" project into OpenERP.

That would be great, I highly recommand it to be done :D

perhaps you could have a look at phases, which offer previous/next phases and you could link you tasks to the phases?

Hello,

I was looking for task dependecies as well. In V6 you have phases (modules long term planning). Phases have dependecies and you can related tasks to every phase.
But as you can see from my own thread I was not able to successfully schedule a project.
Maybe someone can sched some light on this.

Hi folks!

I tested the Project Management module of the OErp, and the task dependence was not working.
I notified as bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/openobject-addons/+bug/768889), and the team already made the modifications so the task dependence is OK now.
They were very fast!
Thank you!
Arpi
