Are the dm_xxx modules designed to allow you to use your existing partner list as a source for campaigns?

Under Direct Marketing menu item I go to Customers | All Segmentations and define a new filter that should return three partners.

But i can't see where to use this Segmentation. Under Customer Lists and Files I see that when i create a new customer File there is a tab called Segments but there is no option to add to it.

For the most part these modules seem to be designed to use with external lists; lists that are made up of other companies partners maybe, where the user of the modules is a direct mail company.

Thanks for any more information that anyone can provide on these modules.

Yes, DM can use existing patners to generate the documents of a campaign.
The sources for the mailing could be :

1/ External list (rented or bought from list brokers)
2/ Existing Partner Addresses (by creating a segment containing them)
3/ Leads from the CRM (with the dm_lead module)

The dm_xx modules are on heavy developement and are on the edge to be operational. A full documentation about how to use the different modules will follow around this december.

Thanks for the quick reply fbs.

I see now where i can add partners to a Customer File:

Direct Marketing -> Configuration -> Customer Lists and Files -> All Customer Files.

I add a new Customer File and can use the Search in the Addresses tab to populate the File suing a simple filter. This i great as it is but it's the Customer Segmentations part that looks really powerful.

Unfortunately it appears to be incomplete - in particular, the compute_sql_query part seems to be not wired up to anything, yet. I am assuming that once you create the parts of the filter you want to apply, you run "computer SQL Query" and it creates your list based on those criteria?

Or am i doing something incorrectly?

Just checking in to see if the documentation has been completed for the dm module. I saw the mention in the earlier posts about dec 2009.

This url should take you to where the modules are located - both 5.0 and trunk.

http://doc.openerp.com/search.html?q=dm&check_keywords=yes&area=default

Hope that helps.
