1 have some trouble with rent system,,,
i'm import module product_loan and i'm install the module.
that module can used for rent system, starting from borrowing until returning the product. but when he returns, the absence of a reminder to return the product. if it like that? Can generate reminder.....

i'm using product_loan for the same purpose, but i have a problem.
when i create a new Product loan, i have an error regarding the date :

"Error occurred while validating the field(s) : Start Date should be Before End Date! and should not be in the past!"

although all the required fileds are properly entered.

i noticed that when u confirm an new empty Product Loan (with no items) this error doesn't show.on the other hand if you have one or many items in the new product loan,you get the error msg.

it seems in your post that u didn't have this issue (or solved it)
i'm using OpenERP - v5.0.6
