For everyone who wants to update OpenERP server and the web-client from 6.0.1 to 6.0.2 on Ubuntu, I have made this short "How to".

The configuration:
Manual installation of the openerp-server and the openerp-web server (OpenERP v6.x.x) on the same servermachine, with Ubuntu 10.0.4 LTS server (64 bit).
The Ubuntu user must have root rights.

See here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QF_ ... y=COqitJAH

The initial OpenERP installation is based on the installation method described here:
topic22157.html

If you have remarks please post them here, it can help me too.
Let me know if you have used the script and if you were succesfull.

Thanks for the howto! I'm using the Debian packages provided from OpenERP; will I have to expect any trouble on upgrading?

first of all thanks for this tutorial.

i did everything as mentioned here but i got 2 issues::

1: when i start the web client with the script i get all the web client output in my shell and its not running in the background as before

2: PDF creation in the web client is not working now (might be general bug in 6.02 and not specific to here)

Is it safe to simply upgrade using the deb packages?

This upgrade procedure is ment for the source code, not the Debian packages.
I assume that the Debian packages have an upgrade script in the packages included.

Thanks for the guideline. It work for me too !

Anyway, at step 5 :
Quote:
5. Start the server manually
su openerp #the user that runs OpenERP
#password
cd /home/openerp/server/bin/
./openerp-server.py -d databasename -u all

I did : cd /home/openerp/openerp-server/bin

Then I open another shell to monitor the log.
sudo tail -f /var/log/openerp/openerp-server.log

Once again, thanks :D
