Hi all,

I tried to update the quantity of a product in the Shop location using the Periodical inventory screen. On confirming the inventory, I expected the real stock quantity for the product to exactly match what I'd specified in the periodic inventory. However it is off by one. I looked at the All Stock Moves list and didn't see anything odd there. Is there anything I can do to make openerp "recalculate" the real stock quantity from the list of moves (if that's even how it works?) Has anyone else seen a similar problem, where the real inventory did not match up with the value specified in the inventory?

Please help asap as this is in production :(

Regards,
Manoj

I have often used periodical inventories and never met this problem.
Where do you find your "real stock"? If you take it in the product list, I think it sums the stocks in the several locations you may have. Do you use several warehouses or locations?

Julien,

Thanks for your response. I was looking at the products screen for the real stock. Based on your reply I checked in the Stock Locations Structure -> Physical Locations -> Shop -> Future Stock. This is showing the correct stock quantity, which is a relief.

I noticed that the stock locations structure is showing a location called "Office", and Shop is under it. Both are showing different stock quantities. I didn't customize the default stock locations in any way, as I only have one stock location, for which I was planning to use Shop. Do you know how the real stock shown on the product screen is calculated? It looks like it is taking the real stock quantity as reported in the Office location.

I don't have the same menus and locations names as you do. Maybe me didn't install the same modules.

To know my real stock, I look in the Product form, and then "Stock by location" in the menu on the right.

The "real stock" in the product list sums the stocks in some of your locations, but I don't really know how to define if a location must or mustn't count in the sum.

Thanks. I think your assessment is correct, that it displays the sum of stock at all "physical" locations for a product. The only problem I have now is this: whenever I make a sale using the point_of_sale screen, it takes the product from the "Office" location. How can I make it use the "Shop" location for the delivery?

When you create a new sale with Point of Sale, you can go in the Other tab, there you have the shop where it takes the products. If you edit this shop, you see the warehouse associated to the shop. If you edit the warehouse, you can see the locations associated to this warehouse.
