We send out a lot of samples to potential customers at no charge to them. Right now we are doing this as a Sales Quote. The problem we're running into is that, the stock is never moved from Inventory, because e it is just a quote, and so our warehouses are showing stock that has been sent out to customers as a sample. We eventually get most samples back (some decide to pay and keep it), but there are a lot sent out, so this is becoming a problem.
I just wanted to see if anyone else using OpenERP has run into something like this, because we're trying to come up with the best way to handle this. I think that the best idea is to create another Stock Location . This is what we have done with our Sales Trunks, which contain about a 100 items of inventory that our sales people take around the country with them. That way we can ship the trunks to certain locations, and sometimes sell out of them, but maintain inventory.
