This query is with regard to OpenERP Version 6.0.
While the new version looks very impressive and user-friendly, there seems to be an issue with the MRP module, which I believe is quite basic in nature. I have noticed that when one manufactures a product, the real stock of the product is not updated, where as the real stock of the components used to manufacture the product are updated properly. I am not really sure whether I am missing out on some configuration here. However, I have tested the issue many times and am forced to accept that the same is a bug.
Further, as a result of this issue, the are problems arising when one tries to produce in batches (without assigning production lots). Also, I am not sure why there isn't a 'produce only' option on the manufacturing order screen. It so happens that the user is forced to do 'Consume & Produce', which culminates in multiple consumption, even if the user has manually moved the component to the virtual production location. For instance, consider the quantity of Product P1 to be produced is 100 and 100 numbes of Components C1 & C2 are required for the same. Now, if the user consumes 50 numbers of C1 & C2 and wants to produce 50 number of P1 in the first batch, the user has to select 'Consume & Produce', which moves the remaining 50 number of C1 & C2. Ideally, the 50 numbers that have been moved to the production location by the user should be used for the production. Also, I am not sure why OpenERP allows consumption of components whose real stock is zero, thus resulting in negative stock which is generally not the case.
I would be glad if anyone could throw some light on the issues mentioned above. Thank you.
