Hi all,

I have some questions regarding the manufacturing process.

How it is possible to track time in manufacturing process?

I have a manufacturer with several machines that process cardboard making packages.

I want to set up routes and BoM's to reflect the time needed to finish an manufacturing order depending on the number of items to be processed.

I understand that I can have some time to prepare the machine and some time to cleanup the machine, but how can I know if I have 1000 items to process and every item takes 1 second, that production will finish after 1000 seconds + time to setup + time to cleanup?

Can anybody shed some light on this for me?

Then I would want to know how can I schedule the production orders depending on the load of the machines, knowing also that I can do the same processing on several machines, but of course using different BoM's.

Thank you in advance.

I have same question, but I would like to calculate the exact time for each work centre. How can I achieve that?

We have a lot of steps (work centres) to complete one product.

First of all you need to configure a 'Work Center' with 'Time for one cycle=00:01' (every item takes 1 second) and 'Time before prod' = 00:30 and 'Time after Prod' = 00:30.

Now configure one 'Routing' and add above work center in the 'Routing Work Center Line' entry with 'Number of Cycle' = 1 and 'Number of Hours' = 0.

Now while you create BOM of your product, just add above configured routing in your BOM.

Now create MO of 1000 qty of your product (keep in mind that the selected BOM in MO must be that you have configured).

After conforming the MO go to the 'Work Orders' tab of MO, here you can find 'Nbr of Hour' = 17.70 [16.7 (1000/60) + 0.5 (00:30 Before production)+ 0.5(00:30 After production)]

Hope this will help you

Thanks.

Hi, there~

The setting up is for estimated timing. How could we record and calculate the actual timing for each work order?

For example, a manufacture order has 6 work orders. Once the first one is in progress, all the following orders also have been started. We are just wondering whether there is any way we can let work center to tick when they start the job and when they finish and pass the order to next step.

Thank you very much.

I would also be interested in such an option.

I did not understood one piece

In the 'Time for one cycle=00:01' (every item takes 1 second)
the time is HH:MM I belive that would need also HH:MM:SS for seconds

and 'Time before prod' = 00:30 and 'Time after Prod' = 00:30.

the time is
HH:MM

?

Thank you
Mihai

Hi again,
I am sorry that I do not understand yet how to correctly establish the timings.

I have this machine that cuts 3000 pieces/hour

Can anybody tell me how to define this?
Efficiency factor=? (default is 1)
Capacity per cycle=? (default is 1) (what is that anyway) (I'm a programmer, I am not to good with manufacturing)
Time for 1 cycle (hour) =? (mind that here the format is 00:00) (why is not consistent over the program ? somewhere is in decimal format and somewhere is in hour:minute format, I need seconds also)
Time before prod=? (mind that here the format is 00:00)
Time after prod =? (mind that here the format is 00:00)

It would mean a great deal of help if somebody would enlighten me about those matters.

Thank you very much
Mihai

@glassexp

you may want to take a look here https://bugs.launchpad.net/openobject-a ... bug/773128
is exactly what you described.

As for me still I did not fully understood how to set up my timing for machines that takes less than a second to finish a cycle, and still is hard for me to believe that only I have to deal with such advanced machines :).

Thanks for your help everybody.

Mihai

I think it is not possible with standar manufacturing modules. It is possible with the new manufacturing extension modules we published.

https://launchpad.net/avanzosc

We can capture time and cost from machines and operators, stimated and real.
It's linked with analytics accounts.

Hi, Mihai

Thank you for your information. It looks that the bug has been fixed yet...am I right?

And actually, we want to track and record the time spent by each work centre for one production order. Currently, once the first work centre 'start', all the following work centres 'start'....How to make them work one by one, step by step??

Thank you.

I guess this solves it:

@glassexp

Hi,
Have you managed to set seconds in time precision for manufacturing orders and work orders?

I have only one machine that makes one operation in more than one minute, and I cannot use the planning module as it is intended to be ERP(lanning). Is such a shame, the company is thinking to stop using OpenERP because more than two months we were not able to set up seconds in manufacturing.

Thank you.

Hi, Mihai

I think the time is recorded by minute. We haven't thought about tracking seconds according to our manufacturing nature.

We haven't tried Planning module yet. We still are the first stage of whole process.......
