Hi,
I am new in OpenERP, which encounter some query on creating a stock item with different conversion
Scenario as below:

Item code = PAPERROLL
Primary UOM = METER
Storage UOM = ROLL
Default Conversion = 100


* which mean 1 roll of PAPERROLL = 100meter

When place PO, I will request 2 ROLL * 100meter (standard)
But sometime when goods receive, supplier might come in as:
1 ROLL = 102meter
1 ROLL = 105meter

User need to know how many roll being receive and what is total meters

Can OpenERP handle such requirement? I think this is pretty standard requirement in market but I can't get a way to configure it in OpenERP.
What I had experience in my previous ERP system, it allow to enter 2 kind of UOM in the transaction


Trx Qty = 2
Trx UOM = ROLL
Stock Qty = 207
Stock UOM = METER

I don't think that OERP does what you make your old ERP with that UOM. At least not the standard OERP, but i don't know about a module that will do that.

Anyway, if you use UOM i consider that the rolls mostly will be the same 100m and some of them out of this value, but not too much.

If you can get any value 80,81,82,...,99,100,101,102,103 maybe it is smarter to forget the roll and use meter as UOM. Why have a UOM if the supplier cannot deliver that UOM ?

If you can expect values from e.g. 90 to 110 you can create UOM as much as values can be there: Roll090m, Roll091m, ..., Roll110m.

Sorry to troublesome you again. How to setup the secondary unit of sales with measure type = variable? I couldn't find this configuraton in the product setup.

It is just there on the first tab of product, right beside UOM , maybe you do not have extended view enabled.
