I have received products, but the Inventory Valuation was still set to Periodical (Manual).
I want to value my stock, how I have to do this?
Yes, I read the manual, and in the chapter "Manual and real-time inventory valulation" it is written that I should set the Inventory Valuation to real-time.
So I know that. How to valuate my stock while it was not not automatically? I assume I don't have to count the number of products, look up the price in the product sheet and make a journal entry. But I can't find the button to perform this.

You could do a periodic inventory - import the quantities from the locations without setting to zero, then confirm & update.

Hi,
I don't think is what I intend.
Maybe I did not express myself well.
When I purchase goods and I receive them, the ledger account for Inventory has to be debited for the amount the goods are worth.
This can be performed automatically and real-time. This is to be specified in the product properties, where a stock value acct, a stock increase acct and a stock decrease acct is to be specified. The stock value acct is named stock variation, but that name is confusing.
If you don't count the various bugs in the Inventory value calculation, the mechanism works more or less correctly when goods are received.
However, when I received the goods, the product was specified for Periodic-Manual inventory valuation. Now I have these goods and I want to transfer the value from the Purchases acct to the Stock acct. I could do this manually by creating a journal entry, but that looks so dumb. Somehow I expect an action which automatically transfers the value of purchased goods to my inventory.

Sorry - I have not used periodic-manual - it's name suggests there is nothing automated so looks like a journal entry is required.

Too bad. I don't know what it is in your company, but automated stock valuation seems something so basic to me, I can't understand why it is something which is presented as something very special and certainly not default in OE.
Thanks anyway jlinkels

I agree - should be the default which is what I have set it as. Could even exclude the alternative.
