Hi
I have looked around on the web for this and asked our OpenERP partner training company without finding a solution (they told me to stick to USD - but that allows for some serious risks in my business)
The thing is we have a trading company, and we buy in USD, CNY and HKD. But then we also sell in multiple currencies: USD, EURO, HKD, CNY and SEK.
Our default currency is USD.
So for one project, I have three suppliers, some quoting in USD some in CNY. But in products, I can only choose Cost Price in my default currency (USD). The same applies to setting the price with the suppliers, only my default currency is allowed to be entered. The optimal would have been to enter price and then choose the currency in a dropdown.
Anyone has a solution for this? Cheers!

I agree. There should never be a monetary field without a currency field next to it. Have you tried manage your supplier prices in price lists instead of in product?

Hi
Yes, because we sell in USD, buy mixed and have expences in CNY and then do our accounting in HKD.
If there was a dropdown, it would be like magic. HUGE improvement. It is not only suppliers but also our office expences and salarys etc.

Really is there anyone who can do this, pay to get this done and get it upstream?

use pricelists - they have a currency type. I just bas of the cost price field, reduce by 100% then enter the buy/sell price - PO or SO is created in the correct currency at the correct price.

Hi
Thanks for your answer. We tried that but found out we would rather skip it. Our staff needs to be able to look at a product not confusing pricelists. The margin for error is just way too high and we work with big orders where a mistake could kill our. Company.
I really need that currency menu in the product view.
Cheers

I have a simler issue but little different
I solved it by creating a module that inserts a currency field and purchase price and converts the price at the current time to the local currency.
So the purchase user can always see's the actual purchase price in foreign currency
I dont think that will help but just any idea

hey Ahelal,
Since I was just about to write the same module, any chance you would share your code ? I think many of us could profit, since this is a clear lack in the product management.
Let us know, Cheers, Nicolas
