How to contribute
What are the "Shared Funding Development" Projects ?
In order to boost the growth of Tiny ERP, the Shared Funding Development (SFD) projects allows everyone to request and pre-finance new features to be developed in Tiny ERP. The feature is then developed and sold until we reached the development cost of the project to reimburse the one that pre-financed the module. Once the development costs are paid, the module is freely published under the open source GPL license.
If you purchase one of these module, you directly get it as Open Source. We just ask you not to distribute it so that the SFD projects keeps being a success.

How to propose a new feature ?
To request a new feature, you must send a request for quotation in English to the Tiny ERP team: sales@tinyerp.com. You must provide a complete description of the need with some examples, demo data and a description of a complete test case.
Then you will receive a quotation with:
- A complete description of what will be developed and how it will be developed
- A time frame needed for this development
- A budget for the total cost of development
- An estimation of the time needed to finance this with a Share Funding Development project
In that way, if you need this feature you have two solutions:
- Pay this amount to get the module in the proposed delay
- Start a Share Funding Development project, paying 15% of the total costs
New Feature Request
For a new feature request, you can contact OpenERP and give as much as possible information on the development needed, by example :
- sample data
- use case
- detailed book of specifications per feature

Why should I pay 15% of the cost to initiate a SFD project ?
We estimate that a feature is not interesting to be developed if no one is able to pay 15% of the development cost. This also allows us not to start too much Shared Funding Development projects to concentrate contributor's donation on a limited number of projects.
Moreover, this will pay our starting costs: analysis, documentation, announces on the website and newsletter, etc.
Why should I pay for a module which is already developed ?
Most of the development in Tiny ERP are financed by the Tiny company. If the SFD project concept, the development is requested by several companies but not planned in Tiny development budget. So, we need to finance the development through these companies investment.
If the module is freely available, nobody will pay for it. That's why, during the funding period, the module will be only accessible to contributors. Of course, after getting the total invested amount from various companies, the module will become public.
How do you decide to pre-finance projects ?
Sometimes we decide to invest the money needed to finance the project and start the development directly. That helps the product to grow faster.
There are no specific rules to decide whether or not we pre-finance the developments. The general idea is that, the pre-finance modules for which we estimate that the value added is important and quite generic.
